Allegro Chorus’ 2026 Holiday Concert
The program includes arrangements celebrating Hanukkah, Christmas and the Winter Season. We will be accompanied by 2 violins, viola, cello, bass, flute, and of COURSE, Ron Bryant on piano.
The concert opens with "God Bless Us Everyone" from Disney's "A Christmas Carol" with the lyrics: "Come together, one and all, in the season's spirit. Gifts abound here, great and small; joyously we feel it."
We move right into a Mark Hayes arrangement of "Winter Wonderland of Snow" a mash up of our title song, "Winter Wonderland" and a winter favorite, "Let it Snow".
"White Is in the Winter Night", by Enya has her signature flowing Celtic melody, accompanied by Piano, Flute, Viola, Cello and hand drum.
Frank Proctor, one of Allegro's tenor singers, is sharing his arrangement of "In the Bleak Mid-Winter". This arrangement will be accompanied by piano and flute and includes a small ensemble singing several solo sections.
A new Hanukkah piece for Allegro Chorus is "Celebration of Light" by Joseph Martin. Accompanied by piano, solo violin and tambourine, it begins, "Rise up, rise up people, dance and sing. Rise up candles, let the music ring. Rise, up, rise up, strike the tambourine. Sing, for Hanukkah has come."
A stunning moment in the concert will be "Love's Pure Light" by Elaine Hagenberg. She sets the words of "Silent Night" to a beautiful new melody, accompanied by our orchestra of strings and flute.
A rollicking arrangement of “Here We Come A-Caroling” joyously closes the concert.
Allegro's 130-voice chorus, under the direction of Merry Keller, will be performing at The William D. Purser Center, a performing arts building on Logan College campus, 1851 Schoettler Road, Chesterfield. This venue, new for Allegro, provides a professional theatrical setting, with enough space to accommodate our growing chorus and audience, and plenty of easy parking.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children, up to 12 years and will be available through Eventbrite.

Enter Logan College Campus from Schoettler Road. Turn right onto Beatrice Hagen Memorial Drive, following the signs to “The Purser Center". Convenient parking will be in lots 4, 5 and 6.

Our mission is to build a diverse group of singers, 50 years and older, regardless of race, disabilities, ethnicity, or musical background, whose singing together bears witness to the unifying, healing and joyful power of choral music. Our pledge is to highlight dynamic musical experiences with a commitment to a variety of music that can be performed with energy and excellence, growing each individual’s musical abilities as we come together in rehearsal and performance.

WHO? ME?
Yes, YOU! You have the gift of a unique and special voice that is all your own, even if you have not used it to SING since grade school. You can sing at the top of your lungs in the shower, or along with your favorite songs on the radio. But MAGIC happens when many voices sing together. An uplifting energy fills the room, and all those unique voices join together to make music that is more beautiful and joyful than any one voice on its own. |

Allegro: A St. Louis Choral Community is a chorus for anyone 50 years or older who wants to sing. Our founding director, Merry Keller, loves to help people find their best singing voices, and wants you to grow in your ability to open your voice to sing with your whole body, heart and soul.
